Macron’s 100-day plan to save his presidency is in tatters already

President hoped public anger over teenager’s death would peter out by Bastille Day but the latest riots could cost him his leadershipAfter a bruising three months battling huge strike protests against his pension reforms, Emmanuel Macron addressed the nation to promise “100 days of appeasement, unity, ambition and action in the service of France”.

The hope was that public anger would subside in time for July 14 and its famed Bastille Day parade and firework displays.
