Shayna Goldman: It’s about time the Red Wings swung for some high-end talent. At this point, it’s the only way for Detroit to really progress in their timeline. As much as the team has turned to the free agent market these last couple of offseasons, they’ve only really signed supporting players. That’s important to do, of course, but there needs to be a foundation of top-tier players to support. And in most cases, a team won’t be adding that top-tier talent in free agency. That tends to happen through player development or trades.
Detroit has been working to develop its own stars, with mainstays Dylan Larkin and rising talents in Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond. But this core clearly needs more to take things to the next level, and that’s where Alex DeBrincat comes in. READ MORE
