Stream It Or Skip It: ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ on VOD, The Latest Entry In A Cratering Franchise

We could’ve maybe had a reboot, but no, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (now streaming on VOD services like Amazon Prime Video) is more of the same peabrained

nonsense we saw in the six previous movies in the franchise. OK, fine, it arrives after 2018’s Bumblebee, which was helmed by Travis Knight, and had its endearing moments. And it’s a little less peabrained without notorious rubbish merchant Michael Bay, who departed the director’s chair

after making the world a worse place with the first five films, which stand together as a monument to obnoxious tastelessness. Rise of the Beasts is a continuation of Bay’s “vision,” so it’s already got a strike against it, but the efforts of director Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) and stars Anthony Ramos (In the Heights) and Dominique Fishback (Swarm, Judas and the Black Messiah) make us realize this could’ve been worse.
